About Gaborone.com

An independent guide to Botswana’s capital, written for people who want more from it than an airport transfer.

Gaborone.com exists because most guidebooks give Botswana’s capital two pages on the way to the Okavango. We think it deserves more: it is where the country’s story is told, where its crafts are sold, and where you can see a rhino before lunch and be back for a meeting. This is an independent travel guide to the city, the villages around it and the journeys that start here.

What we cover

  • How to get to Gaborone by air and road, with realistic times and border details.
  • Which tours are worth booking — every one of them a real, currently listed product, ranked honestly.
  • What to see: Mokolodi, the Gaborone Game Reserve, Kgale Hill, the Three Dikgosi Monument, Mochudi, Manyana and more.
  • Where to sleep, from CBD towers to chalets in the bush.
  • How to continue to the Okavango Delta, Chobe, Khama Rhino Sanctuary and Madikwe.

How we work

We build each page from primary and reputable sources, cross-check facts, and say so plainly when something is uncertain — opening hours and entrance fees in Botswana change without much notice, and we would rather tell you to check than give you a confident number that is wrong. Tour prices, ratings and review counts are taken from GetYourGuide; hotel scores from Trip.com.

We are equally plain about what cannot be booked online. GetYourGuide’s coverage of Gaborone is thin, and we do not invent products to fill the gaps.

How the site is funded

Gaborone.com is free to read and carries no display advertising. It is supported by affiliate commissions: if you book a tour through GetYourGuide or a hotel through Trip.com after following our links, we may earn a small percentage, at no cost to you. Details are on our affiliate disclosure page.
